Foliocast early access

Installation guide

Allow 10 minutes. Keep your invitation email at hand: it contains your licence key (it starts with FC-). The plugin interface follows the language of your WordPress profile; this guide names each menu in English, with the French label in brackets.

Before you start

  • A WordPress 6.0 site or later, and an administrator account.
  • A professional Instagram account (Creator or Business). Switching is free: in the Instagram app, Settings → Account type and tools → Switch to professional account.
  • During early access you receive an Instagram tester invitation. Accept it before step 4: on a computer, open instagram.com → Apps and websites, "Tester invites" tab, then Accept.

1. Download the plugin

Download the file foliocast-<version>.zip from foliocast.fr/api/download. Do not unzip it.

Free version: install it straight from Plugins → Add New by searching for "Foliocast" (WordPress.org listing).

2. Install it in WordPress

In your site's admin: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file, then Install Now and Activate. A Foliocast menu appears on the left.

3. Activate your licence

Open Foliocast → Settings → License (Réglages → Licence), paste your FC-… key, then click Activate (Activer). Your Studio plan is free until 15 December 2026: unlimited posts and Reels; at launch, on 1 December, you receive by email a code for 50% off your first year.

4. Connect Instagram

In Settings → Getting started → Restart the setup assistant (Réglages → Démarrage → Relancer l'assistant de démarrage), click Connect with Instagram (Connecter avec Instagram). Log in on Instagram's official page with the professional account you want to use and authorise Foliocast. You are then sent back to your WordPress, connected.

Foliocast never sees your password. Access is stored encrypted on your own site.

5. Pick your projects and approve the schedule

The assistant finds the projects and artworks already on your site. Tick the ones to show, then review the proposed schedule: images, captions, dates. Everything stays editable until it is posted. Approve it: posts go out at the planned times, even with your computer off.

6. Make posting reliable (recommended)

By default, WordPress triggers posts when your site gets visits. For on-time posting, add a scheduled task: Settings → Automatic publishing (Réglages → Publication automatique) shows the exact command to paste into your host's "Cron jobs" menu, or the address to give to the free service cron-job.org.

Troubleshooting

  • Instagram no longer recognises the connection: click Connect with Instagram again (Settings → Getting started → Restart the setup assistant). Paused posts resume in order.
  • No projects found: each project needs at least one image (featured image or gallery). Write to us if your theme stores projects elsewhere.
  • Posts at the wrong time: check the time zone in Settings → Maintenance → Advanced options (Réglages → Maintenance → Options avancées).
  • "This site is a copy" banner ("Ce site est une copie"): Foliocast detected a test copy of your site and does not post from it, to avoid duplicates. On your real site, click "This is now the main site" (Ce site est désormais le site principal).

Reels are not made in the cloud

Reels are made by our rendering service, which calls your site from data-centre servers. Some hosts mistake them for bots and block them before WordPress even loads: that is the 403 error shown in Settings → Reels, stories and tracking → Reels in the cloud. Nothing is lost: while the block lasts, Reels are made in your browser whenever the app is open in Chrome or Edge.

  • Hostinger: hPanel → Websites → your site → Performance → CDN → Manage → Security, security level 1 (or "Medium"), "Under Attack" mode off. If the error persists, ask support to allow /wp-json/foliocast/v1/render/ and /?sbp_render=.
  • Cloudflare: a "Skip" rule for the path /wp-json/foliocast/v1/render/, or turn off "Bot Fight Mode".
  • Security plugin (Wordfence, Solid Security…): allow those two addresses in its firewall settings.

Then click "Check now" in that card: the message goes away at the service's next pass, within the hour.
